Time Management Required

March 22nd, 2008

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately wondering how to make better use of my time.
I’m definitely what you would call a “night owl” - I can do early mornings, but I work much better after supper - usually between 8pm and 12-1am. But how am I using those hours, and more importantly, can [...]

Broken Blogroll - now fixed

March 21st, 2008

Just a quick post to apologise for the downtime on the Blogroll page. Apparently Google have changed the way the Javascript stuff works, and the version I had no longer worked. Shame they didn’t let me know!
Anyway, you’ll have noticed a couple of new tabs at the top of the blog - I’ll get these [...]

FeedBurner Farse

March 20th, 2008

With the gradual move to my new dedicated server, I’ve been taking the opportunity to consolidate various website accounts to aid administration.
A good example is FeedBurner, where I had 4 accounts - one for each website (goDHN, Musoswire Blog, AdventuresInVista and AdventuresInMacOS). Each had a seperate username and password, and I was forever forgetting them!

Congrats to Lewis!

March 18th, 2008

Just a quick one this to say congratulations to Lewis Hamilton and McLaren for winning a very exciting opening grand prix in Melbourne.
Incredibly exciting race - what with the removal of traction control. Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come!

OMG - It’s nearly Easter!

March 17th, 2008

Someone pointed out to me that it’s nearly easter, and my website still says “Happy New Year!” - oops.
I suppose an apoology is in order then. It’s just… well, I’ve been busy. What with the job (pay rise there - yay), and working on new websites and various other projects, time just seems to have [...]

Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2008

Well Happy New Year everyone!
2008 is finally upon us, and the holiday season is drawing to a close. No doubt many of us have drunk and eaten waaay too much (I know I have!), but hey… that’s what celebrations are for!
At this time of year, most people make a list of New Year’s Resolutions. Well, [...]

December 20th, 2007

In the process of setting up the new server for the blogs, I came across a great tutorial for installing and configuring PHP and MySQL on a Windows server. It also shows how to configure the MySQL client tools and phpMyAdmin. Very useful.
Find it at http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic56303.html

Dedicated Server purchase

December 20th, 2007

Yesterday I purchased my own dedicated server from 1&1. I’ve wanted one for years, and have been seriously considering one for the past few months due to the downtime experienced with M6.net, and the worsening support response times. It’s not good when you’ve got clients paying you and you have to email support and wait [...]

New BlogRoll

October 28th, 2007

I’ve just implemented a new BlogRoll, which you can see on the right. You’ll notice it’s a little longer…!
The new BlogRoll uses some clever techniques to show the feeds I follow in Google Reader. I’m sharing almost all of my feeds here - it’s minus a few personal blogs from friends and family, and the feeds [...]

Cool new Resources page

October 17th, 2007

I wanted to find a way of linking to certain resources that I recommend and/or use on a regular basis, but didn’t want to create lots of posts or cram the Sidebar full of links, flash banners, etc (well, apart from the ones that are already there obviously!)
So I’ve created a new Resources page for [...]
